Autumn started life the same way many of us do, just with a little extra where it counts. You see, when Shannon grew to age 7, she grew what looked to be horns and an impish little tail with a barbed end to it. Outside of her apparent differences from other children, Shannon had a fairly normal childhood. She had two younger sisters, a mother, and a father.
And that is where it stops...
At the tender age of fourteen her parents were murdered by a black cloaked assassin. Upon finding the young Shannon and her sisters in the back of a closet, the assassin knelt before the three children weeping. The disheartened assassin pleaded with a young Shannon to take her oldest sister and run to safety, as she would care for the youngest sister.
Shannon tried her hardest to be strong, to protect her sisters. She tried striking at the assassin a few times, only to have her punches caught in mid-air by the woman. Finally, with a barrage of hits to her assailant's chest, she collapsed in tears.
Against the better judgement of a fourteen year old, she took her younger sister Sarah, and they both ran to the Paragon Police Station.
After days of police asking what her parents did for a living, and many questions a young girl should never need answer, the police put the two girls in foster care. Knowing she would have the hardest time ever being adopted, Shannon feared the worst; seperation from what was left of her family.
Anyone looking to give a child a home isn't looking for a 14 year old, and none are ever looking for a mutant. But Shannon was wrong. Someone did want a 14 year old. And being a mutant would never have mattered.
Sheri Peters was soft older lady in her 50s when they met. Sheri worked for the school district and was herself a major force in Independance Port at one time. Sheri loved Indie Port. She had grown up there and thought that perhaps shannon would enjoy growing up there too. For the next many years Shannon would pray that her youngest sibling had made it to safety.

As Autumn grew older she began to meet more interesting people. And believe me, when you have to wear a hoody and sweats everywhere, that's hard! But, eventually Shannon did make a friend; Mark Geoffries. He used to work for Pandora's Box in Steel Canyon until the Tsoo found he had too many items they desired. After too many incidents, Pandora let Mark go. Knowing his good friend Shannon might gain some use from one of the artifacts in the store, he asked Pandora to trade his final wages for a ring. Though she thought better of it, Pandora made the exchange with Mark.
The next day, Autumn was waiting at home for Sheri to come back from work when Mark's call came in...
"Hey Shannon! I've got something for you."
Mark had been such a good friend to her, had shown her kindness when everyone else showed anger. Without hesitation she agreed to meet him for coffee at a local cafe. Mark directed Autumn to a table at the rear of the cafe.
"So? You wanna see!??" he asked...
she could see that Mark could barely contain himself so she decided to play the game with him.
"Yes Mark, what is it?"
He told her he had just spent all his wages to purchase this for her but thought it would make her very happy.
"It's the Ring of Visage, you can look however you like!!" He told her.
He told her a story about some middle ages cult that used the ring to sneak into their enemies compounds and assassinate them. That word again. "Assassinate." she had heard the word too many times in her lifetime. But it sounded like tis ring could be a key to her being able to live like a normal person. Yes, Mark is a wonderful friend. One of the best.
As they were leaving Mark asked if she would like to attend a party at PCU with him. Thinking of Sheri running late, she wanted to go home but after Mark's give she wanted to thank him for his thoughtfulness and hanging out with his friends felt like just the way to do that. That was the last night the world she knew would ever have.
Upon returning home that evening she saw the second worst massacre she'd ever know. Sheri laid lifeless at the feet of a hulking Pumpkin Lord, that appeared to be fighting a Super Heroine by the name of the Black Witch.
The sound of the taxi's wheels screeching turned the attention of the giant pumpkin and it's eyes flared upon seeing Shannon. It threw three large flaming pumpkins at Shannon, hitting her directly with each projectile.
The next morning, she awoke to find herself face to face with the corpse of the heroine that had tried so desperately to save both herself and Sheri. Unfortunately, she had not succeeded.
Staring at the lifeless Black Witch, something snapped inside of Shannon. Bellowing a scream that would echo across the neighborhoods of Paragon, the pain and sorrow that was embodied in Shannon Rogers just simply ceased.
Awaking from this pain and purging of the spirit, Shannon was no more, but something did remain...
left with nothing more than shattered memories of her family and an identity broken, Autumn Witch rose up, to take on the burduns of Paragon City. With a rage like a storm blown from the North, she will find her memories and her family.
No matter the foes, no matter the odds, she will have retribution.
She is The Autumn Witch.
